NOTE: This policy is active only at uRth HAUS.
Meeting and Vote Procedure
- Membership Coordinator or “fair housing ref” introduces Applicant
- If references were requested from the applicant, whoever checked references provides a statement regarding the results of this check.
- Membership Coordinator or “fair housing ref” asks for member comments and discussion on the Applicant.
- Membership Coordinator or "fair housing ref" points out discriminatory statements if they are made, as they are made.*
- House proceeds with vote.
- People have the option to vote “Yes” or “No“ If the “yes” responses make up more than 2/3 of the non-abstaining votes, then the applicant has completed the requirements for residency at uRth HAUS. If the “no” responses make up more than 1/3 of the non-abstaining votes, the applicant will not be invited to become a resident of uRth HAUS at this time.
- If house rejects applicant, members who voted NO need to provide their reason on a sheet of paper to the Membership Coordinator or “fair housing ref”—without** their name.
- During meeting*** MC or “fair housing ref” reviews the provided reasons for rejection and will ask for revisions of any reasons that are excessively vague.
- After meeting**** MC or “fair housing ref” reviews reasons and discards discriminatory votes and recounts the vote excluding these votes from the total count.
Notes
*The Membership Coordinator will do a final review of the reasons to ensure they are fair housing compliant after the meeting. If any are deemed discriminatory they will be eliminated from the vote.
